11-I hate when this happens October 15, 2023
As most of you know, we have been working hard to increase production to meet demand and we are making headway…and then this happens. We have been buying the same motor for the 6000 bed knife grinder from the same supplier for over 15 years. When we were testing the first grinder in the last batch, we turned on the motor and the hub unscrewed and the wheel came off. The motor was turning in the wrong direction. After a couple hours of checking the wiring on the whole batch, we determined that everything was wired correctly but all of the motors were spinning in the wrong direction. Finally, close examination of the motors compared to older motors showed that neither the part number nor the wiring diagram changed but, the default rotation was reversed. So another hour to rewire all of the motors in the batch. That also meant that the manuals had to be updated with dual wiring diagrams based on the grinder serial number and the markings on the motor. Since I had started changing the manual to allow me to revise one page at a time instead of the whole manual, this became a major task that took almost two days. They had better not change it back.
