Actually, what I am trying to achieve is the opposite of job security. Right now there are still several tasks that only I can do. This is mainly due to the software we use. This year, I am going to be replacing our software and/or training either Karl or Mike on how to use them. This includes our Accounting Software, the program we use for our instruction manuals, our web design software, and our CAD software. Transitioning just one of these in any given year would be a major project. Doing all of them this year is kinda crazy. But I have good reasons for all of them. Don’t worry, I am not planning on going any where (or maybe you should worry). I just want to make sure that the place can continue to operate smoothly without me. I don’t believe I will ever retire as long as I can keep doing the fun stuff. I will go into detail about each software transition and/or training in future blogs so stay tuned. It might be interesting for you fellow nerds out there.
